Sunday - January 1, 2017 Happy New Year! 2017 is beginning with the most waited for to happen ~ and it did!! That probably doesn't make any since to you but it does to me. LOL Last night, December 31, 2016, at midnight, our sailor our daughter retired from the Navy. She served 20 years in the USA Navy helping to keep our homes safe and free. My heart goes out to every parent who has a son or daughter in the service ~ I have been there where you are now. Please tell your son and/or daughter Thank You for serving. I am not sure if this will be my last journal entry or not. I started it what seems so long ago to help me get through Beth's career. I unloaded a whole lot of feelings in my entries and it did help. So who knows I still may need to "let it all hang out" some time in the future. In my last entry, I mentioned maybe a trip to the East Coast to visit Beth and Gabriel (out grandson). We didn't make it. And now she will be moving to Florida to join Abner, her hubby, who is now living and working there. We have been to Florida to go to Walt Disney World back in 1978 when Beth was only 11 months old. Chris, our son, is 8 years older then Beth so he remembers most of the trip and fun. Several months ago while I was talking to Gabriel on the phone his voice "squaked." I told him then he was growing up. He and his mom have had a very busy summer riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. The photos of him show he is growing up and not a little boy any more. I miss not seeing my grandkids grow through their early years. You miss so much. Gabriel loved it in Iowa because we had snow! Washington state didn't have very much snow in the Puget Sound area. And I don't think Norfolk, VA had very much either. Not much has been happening here ~ only the normal stuff. Later this afternoon I am going to get my sewing machine out and start doing some sewing on making small double fleece layered blankets for babies, small dogs, or cats. Then I think I will start working on my fleece blanket for our king size bed. Thinking about making some winter hats for adults and kids for winter, too. When I get tired of sewing I will get my jewelry stash out and make some pierced-earrings. I don't think I will get into necklaces ~ at least not at first. Then if I need to chill on the jewelry making I will go to card making. I have enough of either of those three things I just mentioned to keep me busy into infinity ~ almost. You might check back once in a while to see if I do continue to write another entry for my journal. I know my Mom has been watching over Beth for us and keeping her safe. Thanks, Mom. This too shall pass. Tootles! |
